NPHET recommend 5pm curfew on restaurants and pubs stays in place until at least January 30th

The National Public Health Emergency Team has recommended that restaurants and pubs should close at 5pm until at least the end of January.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan sent a letter yesterday to Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly outlining new recommendations on restrictions.

There is significant opposition among Government backbenches and some ministers over the proposed 5pm curfew on hospitality.

Holohan told Donnelly that these measures should be implemented as soon as possible, but no later than Sunday.

The recommendation will be discussed by Cabinet and an announcement will be made at approximately 6pm.
