Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen also banned concerts where more than 50 people are standing while restaurant patrons are required to wear masks when not sitting.

People have also been recommended to work from home. The measures, which are expected to last four weeks, will come into effect tomorrow with virtual teaching beginning on December 15th.

Frederiksen also spoke about the Omicron variant and how it poses a significant risk to overloading the health service.

She stated that it is “expected that this will mean more infected, more sick and thus potentially more hospitalised patients” while adding, “that is why we now have to do more”.
