Elderly man (80s) arrested after driving wrong way down M11 motorway

An elderly man has been arrested by Gardaí after driving in the wrong direction down the M11 motorway last night.

The man, aged in his 80s, had caused at least two crashes on the N11/M11 when he entered on the wrong side.


He proceeded in the wrong direction down the northbound lane causing one collision near Kilmacanogue and another near Arklow.

Following the incident, junctions 13 to 21 were shut down by Gardaí who arrested the man at approximately 7:15pm.

An investigation into the incident remains ongoing.
