People arriving in Ireland will need negative Covid test from Friday

People arriving into Ireland will need a negative Covid-19 test from Friday.

Cabinet agreed that travellers can have either a professional antigen test taken 48 hours before travel, or a PCR test taken up to 72 hours before travel.

The Government will introduce legislation allowing for the return of mandatory hotel quarantine to the Dáil on Thursday.

Cabinet has further agreed that adults and children should reduce their social contacts in the weeks ahead.

The wearing of face coverings for school children in third class and above will also be recommended.
