Covid-19 vaccination to be mandatory for over-60s in Greece

Greece will make Covid-19 vaccinations mandatory for over-60s, as cases rise across the country.

Greece said they would impose a fine of €100 for everyone over the age of 60 who is not vaccinated.

The measure would apply each month from January 16th onwards.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said he struggled with the decision, but that it was necessary to protect more than half a million of elderly people in Greece who remain unvaccinated.

“Its the price to pay for health,” he said.

Roughly 63% of Greece’s population is fully vaccinated.
