Man hospitalised following serious assault in Dublin yesterday evening

Gardaí are urgently appealing for witnesses to come forward after a 51-year-old man was assaulted last night in Dublin.

The incident occurred shortly before 5pm yesterday on Haddington Road where the man was approached and attacked by a group of men.

He sustained serious head and facial injuries following the incident and is currently being treated in hospital where his condition has been described as serious but non-life-threatening.

Gardaí stated that a significant number of people were in the area at the time following the Argentina-Ireland rugby match at the Aviva Stadium.

Witnesses or anyone with information in relation to the attack has been urged to get in contact with Gardaí.

Road users in possession of dash-cam footage or any form of video footage of the area at the time of the incident have been asked to make it available to Gardaí.
