POLL: Do you think the Government will introduce a Christmas lockdown?

The thoughts of entering another lockdown became a distant memory upon the roll-out of the Covid-19 vaccination.

With nearly 90% of the Irish adult population now fully vaccinated, lockdowns and extreme restrictions seemed like a thing of the past and were no longer required.

However, with the recent surge in Covid-19 cases combined with vaccine efficacy starting to wane, health officials are growing concerned and are desperately trying their best to formulate a solution that doesn’t incorporate the use of a lockdown to control the spread of the virus.

With some Covid-19 restrictions recently being reintroduced in Ireland, lockdowns being reintroduced in Austria and further restrictions around Europe, tensions are high amid concerns that a Christmas lockdown may be implemented by the Government.

Many Irish politicians have advocated against lockdowns but said that it’s not inevitable that they will be reintroduced. What do you think?

Is it possible that the Government may reintroduce a lockdown at Christmas?
