WATCH: Thousands protest in Australia against restrictions and vaccine mandates

Thousands of people took to the streets in cities all around Australia in protest against Covid-19 restrictions and vaccine mandates.

With nearly 85% of its population over 16 now fully vaccinated, protesters have rallied across the country against mandates which have been enforced by state authorities for certain occupations.

According to police, up to 10,000 gathered in Sydney while a crowd of several thousand people called for state leader Daniel Andrews to be jailed while voicing their anger over the new proposed pandemic powers.

A wide range of views was present amongst the crowds, however, there was also a heavy presence of anti-vaccination and conspiracy views.

The demonstrations were also met with counter-protesters, with 2,000 people gathering in Melbourne to oppose the anti-vaccination rally.
