Man (60s) dies following house fire in Dublin

A man in his 60s has died following a house fire in Dublin.

The incident occurred in the Belgrove Road area of Clontarf earlier today and was attended by Gardaí and firefighters who responded shortly before 1pm.


Crews from Dublin Fire Brigade managed to quickly bring the “well-developed” fire under control.

The man was then discovered inside the building and pronounced dead at the scene.

A spokesperson for Dublin Fire Brigade told Dublin Live that they had received the call at 12:31pm with the first crew arriving at the scene within 10 minutes of being ordered.


The spokesperson added that one firefighter sustained a soft tissue injury at the scene but is expected to make a full recovery.

The scene has been preserved and a technical examination is underway.
