Pharmaceutical company Novavax applies for EU authorisation for Covid-19 vaccine

Pharmaceutical giant Novavax has applied for EU approval for their Covid-19 vaccine with a decision expected to be made within weeks, according to the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

If the jab gets approved, it will be the fifth authorised for use within the EU.

The EMA stated that the vaccine’s assessment, which goes under the brand name Nuvaxovid, will be carried out under an accelerated timeline.

The EMA added that an opinion on the marketing authorisation could be issued within weeks, providing the data is “sufficiently robust” and complete to show the vaccine’s efficacy, safety and quality.
