Household Covid-19 contacts will now have to restrict their movements

Household contacts of a person who tested positive for Covid-19 will now have to restrict their movements for five days and take three antigen tests.

Cabinet has also agreed that midnight will now be the new closing time for bars, restaurants and nightclubs – taking effect from Thursday night.

Normal operating hours returned on October 22nd, less than one month ago.

Working from home advice will once again also take effect from Friday.

Covid-19 passes will be required for cinemas and theatres, but not for gyms and hairdressers, following discussions at this morning’s meeting.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said there is an obligation on everyone to reduce their social contacts to help reduce transmission.
