Covid Pass to be extended to cinemas and theatres and midnight curfew for pubs and nightclubs

Cabinet has agreed that midnight will be the new closing time for pubs and nightclubs from Thursday midnight.

Normal operating hour returned on October 22nd, bringing an end to the 11:30pm curfew.

A return to working from home will also be implemented from Friday.

The use of the Digital Covid-19 Certificate will also be extended to cinemas and theatres. However, it will not be extended to gyms, hairdressers and barbers as originally anticipated.

Household contacts of a person who tests positive for Covid-19 will also be required to restrict their movements for five days and take three antigen tests.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said there is an obligation on everyone to reduce social interactions to help reduce transmission.
