COVID-19: Here’s the new measures so far

The Cabinet has agreed that bars, restaurants and nightclubs will be required to close at midnight from Thursday.

Working from home advice will be taking effect from Friday.

The Government has also agreed that Covid-19 passes will be extended to cinemas and theatres but not gyms and hairdressers.

Household contacts of a person with Covid-19 will have to restrict their movements for five days and take three antigen tests.

Senior Government figures have indicated that they fear further restrictions might be needed in the weeks ahead.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin said collectively as a society we need to be very aware that the situation is getting worse and will get worse before it gets better.

He added that case numbers are high and that the situation is concerning.
