UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson is currently making plans to add the booster vaccine as a requirement to the Covid-19 vaccine pass in order to be classified as fully vaccinated.
He stated that Britons will find “life easier in all kinds of ways” with a booster dose.
This follows an earlier announcement that all over-40s will be offered a booster dose which Johnson highlighted that increased vaccination rates would mean avoiding the reintroduction of domestic restrictions.
Johnson warned that “storm clouds are gathering over the continent” as a new wave of Covid-19 surges throughout Western Europe, causing the reintroduction of Covid-19 measures.
“We don’t yet know the extent to which this new wave will wash up on our shores, but history shows we cannot afford to be complacent”.
So far, Johnson says that he hasn’t seen anything in the data that would force the Government to reimpose measures such as mandatory mask-wearing or working from home guidance.
Despite this, Johnson said that we “cannot rule anything out” in regards to a Christmas lockdown. He stressed that the most important thing that people can do to prevent the reimposition of restrictions is to get the booster vaccine.
