A HSE information campaign has urged pregnant women to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
A range of information videos have been created by the HSE National Immunisation Office (NIO) in an attempt to deliver its message on encouraging pregnant women to get vaccinated.
Pregnant women have been advised to consult with their GP, obstetrician or midwife about getting vaccinated.
Women who are planning to get pregnant have also been encouraged to get vaccinated.
The HSE said that the vaccine will reduce the chance of the woman becoming very unwell from the virus and reduce the chances of complications from the baby.
The HSE advice said that “It is important that pregnant women protect themselves from the Covid-19 virus”.
The HSE made the following statement, “In response to the lower than anticipated uptake rates, vaccination clinics have been established in a number of the larger maternity hospitals, where women attending the hospital for routine clinics can have a consultation with the obstetric care-giver and can then receive the vaccine on site.”
