Teenager hospitalised following serious assault in Longford

Gardaí are urgently appealing for witnesses following a serious assault that occurred in Longford in the early hours of this morning where a teenager was seriously injured.

The teenager is understood to have sustained serious head injuries following the assault which took place on Main Street, Ballymahon at approximately 3:20am.

He was subsequently taken to Mullingar Hospital for treatment where he remains in serious condition.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who was in the Main Street area between 2am and 4am to contact them.

They are also appealing to anyone who is in possession of dash-cam footage or any video footage to make it available to them.
