NPHET recommends twice weekly antigen testing for people who socialise frequently

The National Public Health Emergency Team (NPHET) has recommended that people who frequently go to nightclubs, bars and restaurants should take an antigen test twice per week.

The group said this would cover people who are engaging in higher-risk activities.

NPHET is also recommending extending the use of the Digital Covid-19 Certificate to other sectors outside of hospitality.

NPHET did not recommend the reintroduction of social restrictions for now, but warned such a move cannot be ruled out in the future.

The recommendations were contained in a letter sent to Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly yesterday.

Cabinet will discuss the recommendations at next Tuesdays meeting.
