Climate activists deflate tyres of ‘gas-guzzling’ cars in emissions protest

In an attempt to raise awareness about “gas-guzzling luxury” vehicles, climate activists have begun deflating the tyres of SUVs in Glasgow.

The climate activists, belonging to the group ‘Tyred of SUVs’, had deflated the tyres of approximately 60 4x4s in the west end of Glasgow as the COP26 summit comes to an end.

Flyers that read “climate violation” were placed on the windscreens of SUVs with the following message; “Your SUV contributes to the second biggest cause of carbon emissions rises in the last decade.”

It added, “Action is required from you: Go small. Go public transport.”

Some motorists did not take the action lightly with one Twitter user stating, “To the idiots who did this to my car as I’m trying to get to Paisley High Court this morning, did it ever occur to you that the driver might have to use their vehicle in an emergency?”

A Police Scotland spokeswoman stated that they are aware of the incidents and that there will be increased patrols in the area.
