Nearly 40% of firms don’t have sustainability strategy

According to a survey conducted by IT company DataSolutions, 38% of firms do not have a sustainability strategy in place with the lack of green alternatives and the costs involved of becoming carbon neutral being the main obstacles cited by firms.

The survey also revealed that 36% of firms do not believe that they are doing enough when it comes to environmental and social sustainability.

The survey also found that 62% of IT leaders believe the tech industry is not sustainable and needs to undergo changes quickly while 71% believe technology will play a vital role in tackling global warming.

Group Managing Director of DataSolutions and co-founder of Techies Go Green Michael O’Hara stated, “There’s no denying it, climate change is the most pressing and urgent issue of our time” while adding, “And the time for people and businesses to act is right now.”

However, on a more positive note, 43% of Irish companies have plans to be net-zero with 65% of businesses expecting to achieve their goals by 2030.
