Man arrested following assault and robbery of woman in Cork

Gardaí have arrested a man in his 20s after a woman was assaulted and robbed at a park on Sunday in Fermoy, Co. Cork.

The woman, aged in her 50s, was walking her dog at approximately 6:40pm in St. Coleman’s Park when she was attacked.


The attacker fled the scene after two people intervened. The woman was subsequently taken to hospital following the incident to receive treatment for injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening.

Gardaí arrested a man in his 20s in connection to the incident and he is currently being held at Fermoy Garda Station.

Gardaí continue to investigate the incident and are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information to contact them.
