Another crew member who was working on the Alec Baldwin film ‘Rust’ has been hospitalised following a spider bite.
Lamp operator and pipe rigger Jason Miller is currently in hospital where doctors are fighting to save his arm following the bite.
While winding down the film’s production following the fatal shooting of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, Miller was bitten by a venomous brown recluse spider.
Following the bite, Miller began experiencing severe symptoms such as necrosis of his arm and sepsis.
A fundraising page stated, “He has been hospitalised and endured multiple surgeries each day as doctors do their best to stop the infection and try to save his arm from amputation.”
A spokesperson for the Rust producers stated, “We do not comment on individual members of the cast and crew’s private matters.”
A former crew member on the film Lane Luper, who was the lead camera operator, stated that he “never felt as close to death” on a set as he did in the days leading up to Ms. Hutchins’ death.
Luper resigned on the day that Hutchins was killed on set while highlighting concerns about the safety and welfare of the crew as the reason for him walking away.
