Increase in people not getting vaccine cert checked, according to report

According to the Economic and Social Research Institute (ESRI), the percentage of people reporting that their vaccine certificate is not being checked in pubs has increased from 21% last month to 35%.

Indoor drinking and dining is becoming more frequent across all venues and accounts for 75% of pub visits, according to the ESRI’s latest Social Activity Measure behavioural study.

The study also found that 34% of people are not having their vaccine certs checked.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan urged people to leave if they are not asked to issue their vaccine cert or if they are not provided with handwashing facilities and mask-wearing is not as it should be.

The ESRI also stated that household visits continue to account for many of the close contact interactions and that there haven’t been many alterations in this frequency.

It added that the proportion of these household visits taking place in outdoor settings continues to fall.
