Gardaí cancel search for missing Wicklow woman after body discovered

Gardaí have stood down the search for a woman who went missing from Wicklow yesterday after a body was discovered.

Ailish Fitzmaurice (61) was last seen in the Brittas Bay area of Wicklow yesterday at around 11:30am.


A Garda statement said that the search for Ms. Fitzmaurice was cancelled upon the discovery of the body.

“Following the recovery of a body in the course of a search operation in the Brittas Bay area of Co. Wicklow this afternoon, the missing person appeal in respect of Ailish Fitzmaurice has been cancelled.”

The statement went on to say that Gardaí thanked the public and the media for their assistance in locating Ms. Fitzmaurice.
