WATCH: Greta Thunberg joined by Irish activists in Glasgow demanding climate action

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was joined by Irish climate activists on the streets of Glasgow to demand action to be taken on climate change.

Thunberg will also be joined by activist Vanessa Nakate and other young campaigners who will speak to crowds at the end of the march through Glasgow where COP26 is currently being held.

The climate strike, which was organised by Fridays for Future Scotland, began at 11am as COP26 talks feature events highlighting the voice of young people in climate action.

At least 8,000 people have taken part in the march with a number of Irish people among them.

These protests come ahead of marches that will take place on Saturday where tens of thousands of people are expected to demonstrate in Glasgow, with other marches taking place in cities around the world.
