US judge sets January hearing for Prince Andrew sexual assault case

A New York judge has set a date of January 4th for a hearing on a sexual assault allegation made by a woman against Prince Andrew.

Prince Andrew’s lawyers will seek dismissal of the case.

“The Court will hear argument on defendant’s motion to dismiss the complaint on 4th January 2022, at 10am” wrote Judge Lewis Kaplan.

The 61-year-old has been under increasing pressure since August when 38-year-old Virginia Giuffre filed a complaint in Manhattan federal court accusing Andrew of sexual assault when she was a minor over 20 years ago.

Giuffre claims Jeffrey Epstein lent her out for sex with powerful associates – including Prince Andrew.

She claims the prince assaulted her at Epstein’s home in New York, as well as on his private island in the US Virgin Islands.

Andrew has strongly denied the allegations and called for the complaint to be dismissed, claiming it is without merit and that Giuffre was seeking to profit financially from the case.
