€100 weekly payments to be extended for student nurses

The €100 payment has been initially provided for the last academic year but it will now be extended with back payments to September.

It was also agreed by Cabinet that student nurses will get an increase in payments of 12.5% during their internship.

The accommodation allowance of the group will also be allowed from €50 to €100 per week.

These measures follow the recommendation of the McHugh Report which reviewed the payments for student nurses and will be published today.
