19 killed and 50 wounded following Kabul hospital attack

At least 19 people have been killed and 50 wounded after attack at Afghanistan hospital.

Two explosions followed by gunfire hit Afghanistan’s biggest military hospital in Kabul.

The explosions occurred at the entrance to the Sardar Mohammad Daud Khan hospital in central Kabul.

A Taliban official has claimed a suicide bomber and gunmen were behind the attack.

“The attack was initiated by a suicide bomber on a motorcycle who blew himself up at the entrance of the hospital,” the official said.

The withdrawal of international aid in Afghanistan after the Taliban gained control of the country has brought Afghanistan to the brink of collapse, as many of the population face poverty.

Islamic State has carried out a number of attacks in the country.
