Impact of Covid-19 ‘hitting hard’ with ‘unrelenting demands’ on hospital staff – Paul Reid

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the HSE Paul Reid has said the impact of Covid-19 is hitting hard, with unrelenting demands on hospitals.

His comments come as a further 2,966 cases of Covid-19 have been reported in Ireland.

There are currently 470 patients in Irish hospitals with the virus, with 92 in ICU.

This morning, Paul Reid took to Twitter to give his assessment of the impact Covid-19 is having on the Irish health system.

“Covid-19 impacts are hitting hard with unrelenting and increasing demands on staff in hospitals, ICUs, A&E departments, testing, vaccinations,” he said.

“We’re striving to meet all. A massive effort by all of us on the public health measures is needed to relieve this and turn it around.”
