Nightclub owners face fines for Covid-19 breaches

Nightclubs and venues which breach new regulations which come into effect from today could face fines of up to €2,500.

Digital tickets will be required to gain entry to nightclubs, and must be purchased at least one hour before entry.

The tickets will require a name and phone number in order to facilitate contact tracing. Details will be kept for 28 days.

Ticket reselling or exchanging will be prohibited, but tickets can be cancelled and reallocated by the nightclub.

Patrons will also be required to present their Digital Covid-19 Certificate, as well as photo I.D before gaining entry.

People will be required to wear a face covering, except while sitting down, dancing or eating and drinking.

Patrons will also be required to stand at least one-metre apart while queueing at the bar.
