Gardaí investigating two possible ‘injection spiking’ cases

Gardaí are investigating two possible cases of “injection spiking”, in separate incidents in Dublin and Limerick.

The first incident is reported to have occurred at a Dublin city centre nightclub last weekend, while the other possible incident occurred in Limerick.

Gardaí say the Dublin report appears to be credible but said they need to conduct an investigation to see exactly what happened.

The woman posted a picture online with a bruise on her arm and reported feeling disorientated.

“We are trying to determine the exact nature of the incident and see if the mark and effect are connected, so we’ll have to wait and see,” said a source told the Irish Examiner.

The incident in Limerick is alleged to have taken place at earlier this week at a city centre club.

The Garda Press Office said: “An Garda Síochána are investigating a report of an alleged incident at a licensed premises in Limerick. The report does not confirm that any person was ‘spiked’ with a drug.”
