New regulations regarding ticket booking for nightclubs to be published today

The new regulations which require individuals to buy tickets before attending nightclub events are expected to be published today.

On Tuesday evening, the government announced new proposals which stated that tickets for nightclub events will have to be booked at least one hour in advance.

Tickets will also have to contain details to allow for “robust contact tracing”.

Tánaiaste Leo Varadkar stated that the rules would be kept under constant review while acknowledging that there is going to be “teething problems and implementation problems,”.

While stressing the importance of keeping the nightlife industry open, Varadkar said that current restrictions “are there for a reason” and have been put in place to “keep people safe”.

The tickets, which will be electronic, will be used alongside a Covid-19 certificate and photographic ID.
