Facebook is changing company name to Meta

Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg has announced the parent company’s name is being changed to Meta.

“We’ve learned a lot from struggling with social issues and living under closed platforms, and now it is time to take everything that we’ve learned and help build the next chapter,” Zuckerberg said.

“Our apps and their brands, they are not changing,” he said.

The news comes after Whistleblower Frances Haugen took questions from UK MP’s in London after she released thousands of internal research she copied before she left the company.

“Right now, the failures of Facebook are making it harder for us to regulate Facebook,” Haugen said.

The name change has been expected over the previous few weeks, with today’s announcement making it official.
