Two dead and four injured following horrific shooting at US shopping centre

Two people have been killed while another four were injured following a shooting that occurred at a shopping centre in Idaho, US.

Among the injured was a police officer who is understood to have since been released from hospital.

According to police, the suspect was in critical condition when taken to hospital and no information has been released in relation to the suspect, the victims or the police officer.

Reports of the shooting were received by law enforcement at approximately 1:50pm yesterday local time, which included reports of one person being “shot and down”.

Upon arrival at the scene, officers stated that they found someone who matched the suspect’s description.

Boise Police chief Ryan Lee stated, “There was an exchange of gunfire that ensued shortly thereafter, resulting in the officer’s injury, as well as the suspect being taken into custody.”

He added that investigators believe that there was only one shooter and that there is no ongoing danger to the public.

Approximately a quarter-mile away, a section of road was closed-off so a second crime scene could be investigated.

Officers declined to answer any questions in relation to this incident but confirmed that it was related to the shooting at the shopping centre.
