Man in serious condition following hit-and-run in Galway

A man is in a serious condition in hospital following a hit-and-run in Galway on Sunday.

The incident occurred on the R336 Road between Furbo and Spiddal at approximately 8:30pm, when a car collided with a pedestrian near the church in the village of Furbo.


The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, was rushed to NUIG Hospital to be treated for serious injuries.

The driver of the car involved did not remain at the scene.

The road was examined by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.


Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the incident to come forward, particularly road users who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage, and who was traveling on the R336 between Furbo and Spiddal on Sunday between 8:00pm and 9:00pm.
