Actor Alec Baldwin may face a charge of involuntary manslaughter after accidentally shooting and killing crew member Halyna Hutchins.
Baldwin could face the charge because of his role as a producer of the film, rather than for pulling the trigger.
The update comes following news emerged that members of the crew walked off the set in protest over working conditions just hours before Hutchins was killed.
42-year-old Hutchins was killed on Thursday afternoon after Alec Baldwin fired a prop gun which he thought was loaded with blanks.
US attorney Joseph Costa said: “As an executive producer, you are in a position of control and you can get prosecuted criminally.”
“It’s the equivalent of drinking and driving, meaning someone may not have intended to cause great harm but they do.”
