WATCH: Campaigners stage climate change protests around the world ahead of COP26

Climate change campaigners have staged protests across the entire world ahead of the COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference meeting in Glasgow, which is due to begin at the end of this month.

The activists are demanding more action from the government to tackle global warming and implement measures that prevent dangerous levels of global warming.

Demonstrations took place in Uganda, Bangladesh, India, Sweden and Germany to call for such measures to be implemented and for governments to take account of the plight of the world’s poorest nations that are affected the worst by climate change.

Thousands of German activists rallied at Berlin’s Brandenburg Gate while carrying banners that displayed the following messages “Act now or swim later” and “Don’t melt our future”.

Many of them have called for a greater emphasis to be placed on tackling climate change from the next German government.

Following the September 26th election, three parties including the Alliance90/The Greens are negotiating to form a coalition government.

A protest that took place in Sweden was attended by climate activist Greta Thunberg, whose weekly school strike inspired the international protest movement.
