Minister for Health Stephen Donnelly has stated that there’s a “strong case” for healthcare workers to receive the Covid-19 booster vaccine.

Donnelly said that he would like to see the green light given on booster vaccines for healthcare workers.

Stating that it’s going to be “a tough winter in healthcare” Donnelly said, “And as we go into the winter, we’ve got to be doing everything we can.”

He also talked about the flu vaccine programme and how the booster vaccine programme is being added to it as well.

This comes as the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation (INMO) expressed disappointment at the fact that healthcare workers are not being included in vaccine booster plans.

Taoiseach Micheál Martin stated that he would like to see healthcare workers receiving vaccines but added that we must take the “expert” advice of the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC).
