Gardaí urgently appealing for witnesses after man (80s) dies following devastating Kildare collision

Investigations are ongoing following a fatal three-vehicle collision that occurred in Kildare this morning.

The incident occurred on the M9 between junctions 4 and 5 at approximately 7 am this morning.

Following the collision, a man in his 80s was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny in a serious condition where he was later pronounced dead.

A man in his 30s was airlifted to hospital to receive treatment for serious injuries.

A woman in her 20s was also hospitalised following the collision, however, her injuries have been described by gardaí as being non-life-threatening.

Both north and southbound carriageways were closed as a result of the collision but have since reopened.

Gardaí are urging witnesses to contact them, as well as road users in possession of dash-cam footage who were travelling on the road at the time of the incident.
