Murder investigation underway after woman dies following tragic car fire in Derry

A murder investigation is currently underway after a woman in her 50s died following a tragic car fire in Co. Derry.

The fire occurred outside a house in the Quarry Road area of Knockloughrim in the early hours of yesterday.

According to Detective Chief Inspector John Caldwell, a 59-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

He stated that the PSNI received a report of a car on fire outside a house at 5:40am yesterday morning.

The woman was taken to hospital but later died as a result of the injuries that she sustained.

It’s understood that the man was also taken to hospital for treatment for burn injuries.
