Gabby Petito died from strangulation, according to US coroner

According to a US coroner, Gabby Petito, whose body was found on the 19th of September, was strangled to death.

The 22-year-old went on a cross-country road trip with her boyfriend Brian Laundrie, who is considered a person of interest in her disappearance and still remains unaccounted for.

She was reported as missing on the 11th of September by her parents after she didn’t respond to any calls or texts for several days.

Teton county coroner Dr. Brent Blue stated in a news conference that Petito died three to four weeks before her body was discovered, revealing that the cause of death was strangulation.

He declined to reveal any further information in relation to the postmortem examination or the overall case.

Although he had previously disclosed that Petito’s cause of death was a homicide, Dr. Blue never stated how she was killed, until a “detailed analysis” led to this conclusion.

Stating that “Nothing is obvious in a case like this”, Dr. Blue disclosed some details about Petito’s condition, noting that she wasn’t pregnant.
