We have recently heard that NPHET’s briefings are set to permanently end as they move into ‘surveillance mode’.
The National Public Health Emergency Team has not held a public briefing since the 24th of August as health officials revert to their original duties later this month.
Public health experts will still be able to advise the government but it’s expected that a smaller team lead by the Department of Health will be put in place.
That being said, should NPHET be disbanded completely or should it remain in place?
Is the current proposal of NPHET going into ‘surveillance mode’ a better option than an extreme on either side, being fully operational or being completely disbanded?
INTRA asked the Irish public what their opinions on the current situation was and if NPHET should be disbanded.
