Biden continues to push vaccine mandates to boost US economy

US President Joe Biden is continuing to push for vaccine mandates across the country in a bid to vaccinate the nearly 70 million US adults who remain unvaccinated.

Biden ruled out implementing such requirements before taking office in January, but he now is using these mandates as a means to get more people vaccinated.

“There is no other way to beat the pandemic than to get the vast majority of the American people vaccinated,” Biden said.

“While I didn’t race to do it right away, that’s why I’ve had to move toward requirements.”

“Look, I know that vaccination requirements are a tough medicine — unpopular to some, politics for others — but they’re lifesaving, they’re game-changing for our country,” he continued.

Biden was speaking at a construction site run by Clayco, a large building firm that announced a new vaccine or test mandate for their workers.

“You’re setting an example and a powerful example,” Biden said.

“I’m calling on more employers to act.”
