COVID-19: Case numbers fall below 1,000 for the first time since mid-July

Today, the Department of Health confirmed a further 892 cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.

There are currently 333 people in hospital with the virus, with 64 of these requiring intensive care.

This is the first time there has been a daily case number below 1,000 since July 15th.

The five-day moving average of cases is now 1,172.

In Northern Ireland, there has been a further 1,080 cases of Covid-19 reported.

Three further people diagnosed with the virus have also died.
