Four members of An Garda Síochána have been arrested or suspended from duty following three criminal investigations that are in relation to a drug gang, an alleged leak of information and an alleged assault.
One of the three investigations is being carried out by the Garda National Bureau of Criminal Investigation (GNBCI) while another is being investigated by the Garda anti-corruption unit.
Two gardaí were arrested on Thursday and are being questioned in relation to an alleged assault on a teenager in a south Dublin garda station earlier this year.
A Dublin-based sergeant has been suspended amid allegations of leaking information about the extradition from Spain this week of Irish criminal Gerry Hutch.

A man in his 60s, who is a former senior garda officer, was arrested. He is being detained “on suspicion of involvement in offences… relating to allegedly enhancing the ability of a criminal organisation to commit or facilitate a serious offence”.
A number of gardaí were also targeted in searches as part of the same investigation, leading to the suspension of one officer.
