Irishman dies following drowning incident in Alicante

An Irishman has died following a drowning incident in the Costa Blanca city of Alicante.

The 40-year-old man is said to have got into difficult after going swimming.

The man was spotted by fishermen and was immediately brought to the shoreline.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene and attempted to revive the man’s life with CPR, but unfortunately were unsuccessful.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

The tragedy happened yesterday afternoon off Albufereta beach, which is a popular swimming place for locals.

The alarm was raised at approximately 5:30pm.

A routine investigation has been launched into the death of the Irishman.
