Former police officer Wayne Couzens has been sentenced to a whole life order for the kidnap, rape and murder of Sarah Everard.
The decision means he will never be released from jail until the day he dies.
Lord Justice Fulford handed down the most extreme sentence following a two-day hearing at the Old Bailey in London.
Fulford said the murder was “devastating and tragic” and carried out in “wholly brutal circumstances”.
48-year-old Wayne Couzens used his handcuffs and warrant card to falsely arrest Sarah Everard as she walked home from visiting a friend in South London on March 3rd of this year.
Couzens had clocked off from a 12-hour shift that morning.
He then went on to rape and strangle the 33-year-old marketing executive, before setting fire to her body.
