“Absolutely disgraceful that this much-loved playground in Corkagh Park has been targeted like this,” the council said on Twitter.

The Dublin Fire Brigade urged on Twitter for people with information to “please contact the Clondalkin Garda Station”.

“Firefighters were called to playground equipment alight in Clondalkin tonight,” the fire brigade said.

“Unfortunately, community amenities can be damaged by fires like this,” it continued.
