FRAUD: Extremely high call volumes experienced by Permanent TSB due to major fraud incident

The bank’s customer service team has been contacted by many customers through social media about fraudulent activity on their accounts.

Some customers stated that they noticed multiple transactions for €9.99 on their account from the Microsoft Store that they were not aware of.

The bank has responded to the high influx of calls by stating that they are dealing with an ongoing fraud incident connected to Microsoft.

It’s understood that the incident is no different to other common incidents of potential fraud.

However, customers have been made aware of significant waiting times on the bank’s fraud helpline as a result of the incident.

Responding to the long waiting times, the customer care team tweeted, “Apologies for the long hold times, the fraud team are experiencing a high volume of calls due to an ongoing fraud incident with Microsoft. Wait times are currently anywhere from 20 to 50+ minutes. The team are working as fast as possible to answer queries,”.

The bank added that it’s working as quickly as possible to answer calls and has asked people to cancel their bank cards if necessary through their website.
