The Department of Health has confirmed a further 1,459 new cases of Covid-19 in Ireland.
As of 8am today, there are 296 patients in hospital receiving treatment for the virus, 65 of whom are in ICU.
As a result of the data breach on the Health Service Executive (HSE) back in May, deaths are now being announced on a weekly basis.
As of Wednesday, a total of 5,209 people have died with Covid-19 in Ireland.
Yesterday, there was 1,335 new cases of the illness reported with 282 in hospital, including 65 in ICU.
Meanwhile, all remaining states have been removed from Ireland’s Mandatory Hotel Quarantine list following an announcement from Health Minister Stephen Donnelly.
According to the government, these decisions have been made following its revised approach to international travel, the success of Ireland’s vaccine roll-out and the international evolution of the pandemic.
