One arrested and seven hospitalised following violent incident at Galway graveyard

One person has been arrested and seven others have been hospitalised following a violent altercation at a graveyard in Galway yesterday.

The incident occurred at approximately 4pm at a graveyard in Tuam, where 30 gardaí were deployed to break up a huge altercation between a large group of people.


A young man, who was in possession of a knife, was arrested after trying to flee the scene. He was taken to Tuam Garda Station and has since been released.

According to gardaí, a file is being prepared for the Juvenile Liaison Officer.

Five men and two women were taken to University Hospital Galway to receive treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
